Fr Colin's Update - The time is fast approaching ...

The time is fast approaching and I am sure of your prayers and support.

This is the first time we are coming to Embu Kenya - and I am sure it will be a Divine Adventure.

Can you please clarify:

1. We need the full address of the residence where you will be. This is to write it on all the luggage etc

1.1  Can you also give us all the data that we can find useful for us and for our families here in Malta:

- telephone numbers (prefix + )
- addresses
- mobiles
- e-mails

2. It's not clear to me how we are to go about the Orphanage project. We really wish to initiate it and finish it as much as possible. We are ready to pay the workers involved besides our own work. Michael sent you the plans and the estimates. Are they correct? You wrote you intend to make some changes. It's ok for us - as long as we can begin the project which is so much to your heart. We are ready to subsidize a lot of it but please tell me how much would be the cost, how much the Diocese intends to invest in the Orphanage complex, and to what extent can we plan to see the project advanced before we leave. We are very keen on the Project. If it succeeds we intend to continue our support even when we finish the work in Embu.

3. Can you give the general sleeping quarters distribution map so we can distribute our teams accordingly?

4. Have you succeeded to find someone to accompany us at Nairobi airport? Friends of ours just arrived in Vietnam and because they had Vietnamese friends at the airport it was no big hassle. Otherwise, I am afraid, with all the equipment and luggage we have if we find some custom officers who can make life difficult - please can you help us in this too?

5, I wish we can have time together to pray, celebrate Mass, make examination of consciousness and have time to be together to evaluate each day and plan for the morrow.

6.  If you think we can bring important things from Malta or we have to prepare something to bring with us, please feel free to inform us.

7.  You can follow what we are up to on our website:

8. Keep us in your prayers - we need God's help and Our Lady's help so we will not be volunteers but missionaries to make Jesus more known and more loved.

9. Each and every member greets you heartily - you and all your wonderful team who are giving us all the help and information we need.

Reply from Bishop Paul

Hello Fr. Colin Apap. I am sorry that I couldn't reply your emails on time since I was away and where i was there was no net work. The following are the addresses.
DIOCESE OF EMBU,
P.O. Box 1499,
60100 EMBU. KENYA.

Concerning the orphanage on Monday morning I will meet the person who is helping us to have the final drawing. I will let you know the changes. As far the cost is concerned the Diocese is ready to help and cost share to see to it that we shall complete the orphanage.

During the construction the Diocese will help to meet the cost of the workers from the Diocese, let us at least 50% of the workers' cost.

I intend to mobilize the Christians of the Diocese to support the project once the project is started. I have already asked the school committee of Sts. Peter and Paul to come up with strategy in order to realise that goal.
We shall ensure that before you leave the project will have already advanced to some extent.

I will request our supplier of the materials to supply the materials in advance so that once team is here we can move quite fast.

I am yet to know the full cost, but I can assure that I am committed to see this project succeed. I am quite happy to know that you are ready to continue supporting the project.

On Tuesday I will send to you the photos of the residence where you will stay so that you can organise and sort out how you will distribute yourselves in the resident.

I will meet the team preparing the venue on Tuesday afternoon. The same team is to meet you at the airport and ensure that you get to Embu safely.

We haven't resolved the issue of custom duty yet. There is no possibility of getting duty free permert. The church items are taxable including those of the missions. However, the chapter is not closed yet. Our National General Secretariat is helping us if possible within this week we know the way forward.

Concerning the medicines I will give you a final word after meeting the team of CONSOLATA KYENI hospital tomorrow.

In the place of residence everything is set in away that you can have daily. The Weather were is cold between 10 -20 degrees C. So please warm clothes.

In order to prepare the curtains I have requested the Good Shepherd Sisters to help us with the machines. Those who will undertake that work will do it at there place where the machines are already set.

Dear friends be assured of my prayers. I will keep you informed of any progress so that you can do your final touches with calmness and peace.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL ABUNDANTLY.
